Chapter X was seen roaming thru the Shawangunks and Catskills on a beautiful October day for our Fall Foliage Ride. Well attended with 11 bikes/13 members, Road Captain Ron led us on an exciting mix of backroads. After an unsolicited police escort piloted us past a half-mile backup of traffic entering Minnewaska, it was clear riding for the group. Stopped on the westerly side of the Gunks for a breathtaking view of the valley and Catskills in the distance. A U-Turn caused by dirt roads, made it an official Chapter-X ride. Following CR-46 after passing the Rondout Reservoir, found us climbing to over 2,300’ on a scenic mountain road, offering southerly views of the Hudson Valley. CR-42, Peekamoose Road brought us to a stop at Buttermilk Falls, flowing pretty good. Continuing to Rt-28A, along the west side of the Ashokan Reservoir we stopped at Brio’s in Phoenicia for an outdoor lunch to refuel before heading back. Thru in a run up Mountain Rest Road over Mohonk capped an exciting day of riding.
